SAGE 300 OR CONTROLQORE? SIZE DECIDES IT.
Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate is a deep, modular ERP built for mid-market and enterprise contractors with many entities. Below about $15M of revenue most subcontractors pay for depth they do not use. ControlQore costs on revenue, goes live in 60 days and does not need a consultant. Above $15M, or with multiple entities and property management, Sage 300 is a serious product.
Sage 300 CRE is built for $15M to $250M. It scales per user, roughly $1,800 at ten users by an analyst estimate. Implementation takes several months with a dedicated internal resource, at $5,000 to $50,000 or more by an analyst figure. WIP needs the Job Cost module, and Sage has been steering new deals to Sage Intacct Construction, which is worth planning around and is not the same as the product being discontinued. Its strengths are real: the deepest job costing and property management combination in the group, and a proper subcontractor compliance workflow. ControlQore documents 60 days and prices on revenue. Every Sage fact below comes from our software comparison page, last checked August 2026.

Sage publishes no price. The seat figure and the implementation range are analyst estimates, and the table says so. Every capability line is limited to what each vendor documents. The full 28-platform comparison, with a source and a date against every price, is on the software comparison page.
WHEN YOU ARE MULTI-ENTITY AND LARGER.
Sage 300 CRE suits mid-market and enterprise contractors and developers with many entities. Job costing is deep, Subcontractor Compliance Management gives a real lien waiver and vendor compliance workflow, and Procore builds and maintains the connector. If you use intercompany accounting and property management and have people who can own an ERP, it is a strong choice.
Under $15M the weights change. Implementation is multi-month and generally needs a consultant, the system is mostly on-premises, cost rises with every licensed user, and annual maintenance costs roughly 18 to 22 percent of the licence cost by an analyst estimate.
WHEN YOU WANT A LEDGER WITHOUT ENTERPRISE WEIGHT.
ControlQore is a construction ledger with WIP, job costing by phase against the estimate, pay applications, retention and lien waivers built in. It prices on revenue at $150 per $1M with no per-user fees, so every project manager, foreman and estimator can be in the system at no extra cost, and it works the same way at $1M and past $100M.
Implementation is documented at 60 days. It issues corporate cards with project spend limits, so a purchase is coded to a job when it is made, and its Procore integration is native. The honest limits: it is newer than the older platforms, so it has a shorter track record, and inside an SPM engagement it is implemented and operated by us, so it is not a product a contractor buys and configures alone.
WHERE WE COME OUT.
Stay on Sage 300 CRE if you are above $15M, operate multiple entities or need property management and intercompany accounting. That is what it is built for and ControlQore does not claim to match it there.
Move to ControlQore if you are a sub below about $15M, you want a construction ledger without a consultant-led implementation, and you want to avoid a second migration later. It works the same at $1M and past $100M.
Do the move in a quarter, with both systems side by side, and align the cost codes to your estimating while you are in there. That work is what makes any platform change pay.
